Rolling Thunder and Kaleva Post #6333 Join Forces For Veterans Benefit Dinner
Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 27th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and join Rolling Thunder and Kaleva Post #6333 for a Veterans Benefit Steak Dinner. The event will be held at the Kaleva Post on Nine Mile Rd. and is open to the public. The cost of the steak dinner is $10.00 and a children’s meal will be offered for $5.00. All proceeds from the event will go to the Kaleva VFW and Rolling Thunder.
“We couldn’t do this event if it were not for the generosity of local businessman, Dave Barrett, owner of Kaleva Meats who is donating all the steaks.” said John Stocki, President of Rolling Thunder. “Dave has been a great supporter of our current and past servicemen and women and our organization.” he concluded.
The mission statement of Rolling Thunder is as follows: “Our major function is to publicize the POW-MIA issue. To educate the public of the fact that many American prisoners of war were left behind after all past wars. To help correct the past and protect the future veterans from being left behind should they become Prisoners-of-War / Missing-in-Action. We are committed to helping veterans from all wars.”
Rolling Thunder Inc is a non profit organization. Each and every individual donates his or her time because they believe in the issues at hand. Rolling Thunder’s Michigan Chapter #1 includes Manistee and Mason counties.
In 2009 Rolling Thunder participated in 36 events including visiting local veterans at the Medical Care Facility in Manistee and Tender Care in Ludington. Other activities include educational presentations to local schools and local organizations, Flag dedication ceremonies, Missing Man presentations, community outreach through parades and fairs, clothing drives, and regular visits to the Veterans Home in Grand Rapids, MI.
